Who Wants To Live Forever

Original artwork in oils and spray paints, framed - £SOLD
High Resolution dibond aluminium gallery print. 42”x28” - £700

This painting captures Freddie Mercury at full intensity — mid-gesture, mid-command.

Built through a combination of expressive oil work and raw spray paint, the figure is constructed from bold blocks of colour rather than fine detail. Yellows, whites, and bruised reds collide against a dark field, creating a sense of motion, heat, and theatrical force. The face is partially obscured, allowing posture and gesture to carry the identity as much as likeness.

Spray paint punctuates the surface with energy and spontaneity, pushing against the weight and physicality of the oils. The result is a deliberate tension between control and abandon — precision and performance — mirroring Mercury’s own relationship with the stage.

This work stands as a celebration of presence rather than portraiture: a moment of absolute ownership, captured through material confidence, scale, and fearless mark-making.
